A cough and cold can be annoying when you have them too often. In other words, they are stubborn when you are not treating them with attention, thinking that it will pass by itself.
There are some reasons why a cough may not improve, and that can be a frustration for people and their doctors alike. Stress can make colds last longer, or not drink enough water or fluids can make you dehydrated and worsen the cold.
A cough is very irritating, especially because it can make you stay all night awake and won’t let you sleep. People often go to pharmacy looking for some syrup or medicine to calm down a cough but you should know that they won’t stop a cough, they will just stop sending coughing signals to the brain and it will suppress the cold. However, this syrup may cause your drowsiness, dizziness, headaches and increase your heart rate.
Honey is a time-honored remedy for a sore throat. According to a 2007 study, it can also relieve coughs more effectively than over-the-counter medicines that contain dextromethorphan (DM), a cough suppressant.
Here’s how you can create your own remedy at home by using just a few ingredients to sooth the congestion.
- Raw, organic honey
- Adhesive medical tape
- Coconut oil
Firstly, put the flour and a little bit of honey in a bowl. Mix them well and check if the mixture is still sticking to your fingers. If not, add a few drops of coconut oil and then pour some flour on it one more time. Make sure you place this mixture on an adhesive medical tape
and wrap in cheesecloth.
Place it on your chest and use a plaster to make it firmly put. Put on some pajamas and sleep with it.
Make sure you put something on the sheets because the person with it can sweat a lot.
You can use the honey wrap several times and you will be a cough free. It’s all natural and cheap remedy for colds that are more effective than the medicines you used to use.
You should know that coughing isn’t all bad. It helps clear mucus from your airway.
